- Arya, our six-and-a-half-year-old, has already shown remarkable grit and determination on the chessboard. Just months after turning six, he mastered every piece’s movements in about three months’ time - a testament to his quick grasping power, but equally to the patient, engaging coaching of Coach Jeshua at Destiny Chess Academy.
- Coach Jeshua’s ability to keep a young child motivated and excited about learning turned what could have been a dry set of rules into something Arya genuinely looked forward to.
- More recently, Arya has been taking his game to the library, playing on physical boards and confidently challenging kids and adults far older than him. We’ve received several compliments on his poise, his sportsmanship, and how gracefully he handles both wins and losses at the board. That kind of composure doesn’t come naturally to most six-year-olds - it’s been carefully nurtured through Coach Jeshua’s quizzes and practice games, which have built not just his chess skills but his self-belief.
- We’re incredibly proud of how far Arya has come in such a short time, and we’re excited to see where his chess journey takes him next. But more than trophies or ratings, what we hope for most is that he continues to fall in love with the game itself - the thinking, the challenge, and the sheer joy of play.
Coach Feedback
- Arya is a really wonderful student to have in class. He has shown very good progress throughout his learning and has picked up the concepts really well. He is curious, eager to learn, and always willing to participate in activities, quizzes, and practice games. It has been great to see his confidence grow along with his chess skills.
- Arya has a great attitude towards learning, and I’m really happy to see how much he enjoys playing and exploring the game. His progress so far has been very encouraging, and I’m sure he will continue to improve and achieve many more milestones as he moves forward.
